Strange roof issue and tuning - 2.5i

Hi all
My just purchased 2007 Z4 has an odd issue. When the roof goes down you can hear the motor still running and the windows don’t go back up. Take your finger off the button and the windows then manually go up about 10 secs later?
Second question is it worth getting a remap without going full SI conversion?
Third question for now, any good specialists in West Sussex.
Thanks

Sounds like the roof is not going the full travel to tell the hall sensors it’s at the end of its cycle

I’ve recently done the works needed to go from n52 2.5i to si (intake swap and mapping) and the move from 177 to 200+ bhp is noticeable

I’ve discovered the previous owner decided to mask any roof issues by the means of tape over warning lights… only discovered this today as it’s been so hot tape peeled off….
Bought from a forum member as well…

Which warning lights? Only roof ones are by the switches.
Do you mean you can now see the red light constantly flashing?

I’ve not really heard of anyone doing a meaningful remap on a M54 or N52 on this forum, however the Si upgrade is definitely worth doing on a 2.5i N52 and doesn’t cost a lot of money.

OK, just seen your DM. So if the red light is flashing then it definitely means that the system doesn't know the roof has finished moving.
Still think the lower hall sensor is the likely culprit to be honest. Or a break in the wire to it.
Someone on here a few days back had a similar issue. They ended up taking out the shelf support on the lewft side of the boot and could see the hall sensor hanging down.

Here's the other thread:

Not really no. Am in the process of converting mine into Si spec. The manifold has been fitted and it's very noticeable compared to the original. There's another 20 hp to be gained from laptop work (essentially free, because you'll use the cable for other things also). This nets you approximately 40hp which is far more than a remap will deliver.

And you can remap on top of these mods to be approaching 235hp, a 30% increase (give or take).

Check Avon Tuning for a remap.

Any idea where I can get a manifold from is it a 3.0 litre one or 2.5si version?

Either a 3.0 or 2.5Si. realoem.com will have the part numbers for the manifold and disa valve/s. I reused my one to save some money. You'll want to budget for a replacement ccv (the pipes are very difficult to keep intact), and I'd recommend waiting to order until your manifold arrives as they vary slightly. Some have one vacuum outlet, others have two depending on the donor car and age.
