Strange problem

Today, after no signs whatsoever, my car would not start using the key. Started with a bump start then ran perfect home (about an hour).

Checked the alternator, working. Battery voltage is 12.5 then 14 when running. Tried second key and still nothing. I live on a hill so bumped Italian just to check.
Also now the central locking isn't working using the key either in lock or remote but works fine using button in car.

Any ideas?

Does the starter spin the engine but it won't fire?
If so, coupled with the key issue I would suspect it may be related to the EWS.

As always............ what codes are there?

No, that's the strange thing! There's nothing, not even a click or dipping lights. And no codes as yet as I only have a basic reader.

Personally I’d start with the fuse boxes Wigan.

I'll have a nosey later. Any in particular buddy?

The box in the engine bay has the main relays so start there as you have the starting issue, then look under the glovebox fuses for the central locking issue. Long shot but it’s best to eliminate the obvious first.

Enuff-zed will have more of an idea than me on the E85, so if you don’t get any joy with fuses I’d go with what he suggests.

are you saying that when you turn the key nothing happens? If so it sounds like a failed starter motor. Very common. The airbag light might be an unrelated issue.

You appear to have invented the airbag light? The poor bloke has enough issues surely? :D

But the keys not working could be the GM5, so probably best to try one thing at a time.

In fact, I think I may start with the ignition switch. If it fails the car won't start, but it is also connected (obviously) with the keys.

Codes first........did we mention codes?
Get the codes.

There is no airbag light.

I'm thinking it's the starter. But the strange thing is there's been no sign.
Do these just stop working or would it have struggled or soured any faults?

I'll get the codes Sir. 😁😁😁

I can only do this on Friday tho so I'll update then.

The ignition switch works in each position, also sending power to the fuel pump etc (audible) just nothing from the starter.

I'll update with codes once I get them.
