Strange one...

Yesterday I came off the A1 after 30 mins driving at 70 and I could hear a strange noise, like an air leak / fart / putting / whistle type noise when off the gas pedal or when the clutch was in. No loss in power at all. When I parked up for an hour and drove again the noise was gone i till after about 30 ish minutes of driving on mother way.

Had the exhaust checked today and nothing wrong with it other than front flange bolts coroded so having the flange and bolts replaced but no soot anywhere.

Only happens when warmed up and can't be diagnosed on the ramp as it doesn't happen. This has only happened last day or so.

Any idea?

check lower intake boot for holes. most common culprit for farting noises, unless you had my friend Laura in your car and you had just been for sushi?

Thanks, I'll check that out. Strange that only happened when warmed up.

Just checked the hoses ( well felt my way around what I could ) and can't see / feel any holes but did notice while blipping the throttle it sounds like I have an induction kit on! You k ow that 'chuff chuff' air noise. I've always had this I think but when I turned the engine off the induction made a sound like it was getting rid of any air, never done that before that I can remember

On the bright side you have had those flange joints checked. If they are left too long it can be a very expensive repair - new headers etc.

Lau can fart sucking on an ice cube!

U need to pull off the lower boot ideally to inspect properly. Theres also a vac line coming out of that boot and the joint can fail. See my pics...
Check disa too and it could also be your ccv diaphragm failing.
