Strange grinding noise

Has a strange one on the way to work this morning.

For a second or so there was a loud metalic grinding noise from the nearside rear. I initally thought that it might just be a little stone briefly caught between the disc and the pad.
However, the rest of the trip to work, the back end felt a little bit loose. Nothing drastic, but noticable. Had a quick look but nothing obvious, so will need a trip to the stealers when I get the time.
Not sure if anyone else has had this.

Can you explain the 'back end felt a bit loose' part? Do you think this could have been in your mind or a reproducible stability issue?

Hi maniac

It just felt as though it wasn't as planted as normal. The sort of feel you get when the tyre pressure are too low. Not as bad as when the rear suspension bushes popped out of my Z3.

Something I've not had, and I've had most things. Its worth getting it looked at for peace of mind but its likely something jammed into a moving part temporarily and isn't likely to have done damage unless it was large.

Difficult to pin point without investigation. Could have just been that you hit something like Maniac says then it was just a mental thing after that. Might be suspension or bearing related for e.g.
