Strange error

On the way home my car just threw the brake warning on aswel as the traction control turning off.
What the hell has just occurred?

Broken sensor?

According to the owner's manual, the DSC system has a problem. Could be a sensor, or the control unit itself. There will be codes stored that BMW software can extract for more information. Some people were able to clear the error by simply clearing dirt and debris from the front ABS sensors.

Yeah I'm thinking it might be my abs sensor. My brakes were changed in summer so won't be pads etc

Most likely ABS sensor. Happened to me in my 3.0i

Had my error codes read

Tyre pressure sensor and steering angle sensor. Anyone had this before?

On our Zeds the ABS sensors serve as the tyre pressure sensors. If you haven't yet, definitely clean the front ones, in particular the area between the sensor and the brake disc. Also check the electrical connections on all 4 corners. I'm not sure if this error is self clearing or it needs to be reset. Based on reports of cleaning ABS sensors clearing the error, it sounds like it is self clearing.

We can hope the steering angle sensor is a red herring. If not, it's not the end of the world, it is the one thing on the steering column that is serviceable.

Yeah I'm hoping it is what it says and not something more drastic. If it is. It can bloody wait, my lowering springs have just been delivered today and I want them on first haha

Ah! That fits. These sensors are a common failure. In case you don't know, the #2 is the front circuit sensor, which is physically at the rear of the master cylinder.
