Sorry, forget I asked that! I've just looked again and realized that it's the titanium ones that are sometimes engraved not the stainless steel ones...

both can be engraved
If it had the 6 speed etched on it, I'd bite your hand off but it most likely doesn't or you would have said so

And don't you know a "H pattern is only 4 gears...

It's the reverse position that you need to know, especially if you are jumping in and out of different cars with different reverse gear shifts.
