Storage compartment light

Tonight on my way home I briefly glanced over my shoulder and noticed a glowing light. I looked closer and came to the realization that the light in my storage compartment was on, even with the compartment "door" closed. In four years of Z4 ownership, i've never noticed this before. :o

Has any one else noticed this or am I experiencing a malfunction? I hope it's he latter because if I've been that unobservant for four years it's quite embarrassing. :oops:
 
Same thing happened to me! There is a little nook at the bottom of the door with a switch that triggers the light to go off when it is closed. Unfortunately for me, a wheel lock key fell in that nook so when the compartment door was closed, it broke the switch. :x
 
Check the switch indeed at the bottom, it is tiny and easy to replace. I would replace it as the light will drain your battery if left on.

Replacement takes 10 minutes, I have taken mine out a number of times during the various projects.
 
After reading this I suddenly thought "I've never seen a storage compartment light" and after checking this morning I don't have one, or at least a functioning one so this will require further investigation tonight. I suppose after the bulb the switch is the next suspect?
 
Took it in to the dealer yesterday. They only had a few people working on Saturday, but no one there had a clue. Couldn't find a button or switch anywhere near the door. Service advisor is going to look into the matter and call me later. They only had one Z4 in stock, but it was a 2005 model, pre-facelift with no compartment light. I also checked realoem.com and found nothing.

That's odd. They don't even show the storage compartment light....is it included in all models? I know for a fact mine has one, I swapped the damn thing out.

Just how much earlier?
My 2003 has it and I swear I did not retrofit it. Has the same standard little switch at the base of the door to control it.
