Stop/Start problem

I think mine is broken. Which may explain why before it was staying in the last setting when I switched off the engine.
It's not working at all now. I thought it may be an outside temperature thing but it was 17 deg here yesterday and it still didn't work.
Any tips? I've done a search on here and nothing came up.

The stop/start function always seems to have a mind of its own at times, on my previous two 1 Series it hardly ever seem to work yet the Z4 it works all the time so tend to switch it off. It won't work if it senses the battery charge is too low, might be a software glitch also so a dealer visit.

Tim.

There are all sorts of criteria to it. External temp, engine temp, battery voltage, accessories power draw requirements (AC/other gadgets) etc etc... that's why it seems a bit erratic.

yeah, turn everything off, AC, fans, etc. any electrical loads even. Then nip out on a warm day and if it still doesn't take a trip to the dealer. Make sure seatbelt is on too :) that's an inhibit for Stop Start on some cars.

Does it give the start/stop display in the dash, but with a line through it?

Mines been doing that for a while and I was sure it was battery low, cos recently I had only done short journeys.

Drove 300 miles at the weekend and tested it when I got home, and it worked.

It's not been used as often as usual with winter etc etc. I drove it 15 miles yesterday and all temps would have been within the criteria and it didn't work. I'll have to give it a good run and see what happens, if not off to my lovely, friendly, honest dealers. :x

TBH don't bother with it, I have it and it irritates me no end :D
