Stop Start not working

Mine doesn't default on. It stays at what it was when the engine was switched off.

So if yours is turned off, the button has the orange LED lit. If you stop the engine with the LED lit, and then leave the car till next day, when you get in and start up, is the LED still lit?

Mine doesn't do that....

When the button is lit it means the stop/start is engaged, I tend to switch it off straight away as some times at traffic light will put the car into neutral but don't want the engine to shut off. If I switch the engine off with the start/stop off it will default to on when I start the engine again, if that makes sense.

My understanding is that the system is activated by default and the button is to disable it, lighting up orange to show the button has been pressed and the system deactivated.

So you are saying your button is lit when you start the car, and you press it to turn it off (light on....active, light off, deactive?)/

Thats defo different to my Z4 and 1'er.

Haven't got this on my 35i, but the wife has on her MINI Cooper S. The auto start/stop will not work if the outside temp is below a certain temp on her MINI.

I think its the other way up. The button is to turn off the start stop system, the button shows the ASS ( ;) ) and 'OFF". It illuminates when pressed to inform you its been disabled. At least again thats what its done on BMW's I've had with it.

Don't have it on the 35i, and I'm happy with that as virtually every car I've driven with the function shakes itself to pieces at every re-start, esp diesels with it.

Iam fairly certain there is a software update to fix the stop/start into its last selected mode. I'm sure that's correct,it also makes perfect sense. It will get rid of all the moaning and satisfy emissions controls. :D

I vaguely think I've heard that also. I wondered if Carol's replacement car had it....but my replacement came after hers and hasn;t, so I dont think its standard.

Admission time

Dug the Zed out of storage tonight as the Z3 is poorly and I was incorrect its actually the other way around to what I thought  Well kind off as it defaults on (button unlit) when you start up. Button lights up when you switch the start/stop off :)

Car went into the local dealers yesterday and despite having driven over 250 miles since picking up the car, the fault was down to the battery not being charged enough. The print out showed the charge level slowly increasing from 58% on the day I picked the car up, to 68% yesterday 5 days later. - Really surprised at the slow rate of charge as I not had high drain equipment running - must be the Efficiency Dynamics charging system. At least its working now :D

I've got start stop on my mini clubman D and it works perfectly - as long as its in line with all the required operating parameters.

Engine temp above a certain level (think its about 50c), outside air temp above 3c, battery charge at appropriate level etc etc.

That system is also on be default, but then can be disabled by the button.

I've had the car 2 years now and I quite like it actually - makes me wonder when I'm driving my Zed (03 plate) why the engine is still running when I'm just sitting at lights.

So the odd one out is Carol in her Yellow car, where it defaults to its last condition.

We need clarifiaction on this, cant be having someone having different to us!!!!!
