Just got my 28i last weekend and a couple of things to sort out, can the stop/start be switched off as it's bloody annoying ? and I can't connect my phone which is an iPhone 5s, when I collected it from the dealer the salesman couldn't do it and he had the same phone but another salesman tried with a Samsung, no problem, is there an issue with the 5s ?

Hi, you can turn the stop/start function off once you have started the car (each time) or if that gets on your nerves, Carly codes the car to remember the last state. :)

Highly unlikely to be an issue with the iPhone. Do you know anyone else with one you can try.
iPhone is probably the best supported phone, yours might have a snag, try reloading the OS from iTunes.

It's 2012 on a 62 plate

Can you not get the phone to pair at all ? Or is it that you can't play music from the phone ?
If my 2010 model will pair with iPhone then yours should have no problem

2012 28i here... Music works when the phone is connected via the USB port in the centre console but not via bluetooth, never has, phone calls work via bluetooth all fine. Howevver my iphone has recently updated the OS and now its stopped working for phone number searches by name via Idrive, search facility still there it just doesnt find the names from the first few digits or lettters when searching any more, its a right pain..

On the upside if some one calls and I have a photo assigned I get a nice little picture appear alongside the number...

There are gadgets you can plug in to get round it but im yet to find one I am confident to buy or yet to hear of some one using one in a Z4 who would recomend it :tumbleweed:

I changed to iphone when i got my 2010 e89 because my Samsung would not remain linked (bluetooth) to the car - tried my wife’s iPhone 3 and it worked fine without a hitch. Music played via Bluetooth as well
The service manager at my dealer told me that they don’t have problems with the Apple product.

Now on an iPhone 6+ with a 2016 35is and haven’t had a problem.

I can stream my music from iPhone via Bluetooth, couple of things to keep in mind, I believe you have to have enhanced blue tooth, and in mine when you connect via usb to stream it switches the Bluetooth streaming off, so I have to go back into the cars settings and manually change it back under the phones/bluetooth setting to click on music
