Stone chip!

Hi,
Cleaning the Z today & noticed a nasty stone chip right in the middle of the bonnet front edge.
It's down to the White primer, about 1mm x 3mm.

What do you suggest?
Professional fix?
Touch up?
Anyone used anyone they would recommend?

thanks.

I've had my front end repainted twice since I've had her - That's 22 months of which 9 of them she was in storage for a total of about 30k miles. I've since put a clear bra on her. Yes, I can see the edges of the clear bra, but so far, no chips. As much as I really don't like the clear plastic coating on the nose, it really has helped.
As for your question - chips are all but inevitable if you drive her regularly. You will get more. For now, touch up. After you have several, get her professionally repaired. So begins the cycle.....

Out of interest where did you get the "clear bra" and how much did it cost? Is it OEM or aftermarket?

Cheers,

Had my Z covered by Paintshield. Have a look on the web for their site and you can select how little or how much of your motor you would like covered. They can come out to you or have it done at a local fitter. My advice would be to travel upto Grantham where their head office is situated, everything is done indoors and they are very helpful. Four years have passed and I've had no problems at all, no peeling off or discolouring (somecheaper types go yellow) and the areas that are covered are like new. You can still polish your car but it is recommended that you give the areas you want done polished before it is fitted. I know others on the forum prefer to have the front end and other areas re-painted annually, but with the bra your paint work always looks new and saves the hassle of always having re-sprays. I recommend having the work done with my experience, but everyone to their own.

It's aftermarket and I purchased it on ebay. I paid $195 shipped.

Thanks All.
A touch-up it is.

When you first mentioned a "bra" it made me think of the hideous loose black vinyl ones popular with our US cousins.
Thankfully clear stick on vinyl is much more in keeping!!
I will explore.

I have a small chip on my bonnet and some time ago rang Chipsaway to see if they could do it. When I said it was on the bonnet I was told they would not touch it and recommended I take it to a body shop to get it done.

If your mark is not too big - get the kit and do it yourself
