Hi all

My Mrs just told us that someone at her work has had their cars nicked last night (night of 11 Jan 24)....turns out one was a Z4 and the other was an M140. Was taken from their house in Tiptree Essex (Grove Road/Barbrook lane)

The Z4 is an orange 2.0M with the reg GY66 ZBC and the M140i is blue with the reg ACC 998A - pics below. If anyone sees any of these coming up for sale in the future or sees any of them about please do let us know. Thanks all - much appreciated.

Well posted, it would be nice if something positive became of it. Sincerely hope the barstewards are caught but suspect both cars are probably well on their way somewhere. With new reg. plates, the police are virtually powerless to do anything.

Thanks - yeah that is my worry too. Just hoping the orange zed might get seen about before it gets shipped off. Mrs was saying they spent months looking for that Zed before they bought it too. Some wrong uns out there.

Cars are too hard to move on now so they break them.

It's insurance they do it for. Steal the cars break them and sell the parts to the insurance companies as they will now repair cars with OE labeled pre owned parts.

Don't know if you remember the slew of M3 tourings made in the F80 generation. The company that was building them was buying parts from stolen vehicles and a lot of them ended up being crushed once the police found out.

Same thing happened to my Mini Clubman JCW. Stolen never so be seen again.

Also why you see so many land rovers being stolen, A, because they are easy to steal but B, because land rover are so poor with supply of parts that criminals are stealing and then sell to the insurance companies to repair cars with. Doesn't seem to matter how old they are either a 62 plate was stolen round the corner from me recently.

Really sad truth. Hope there is a better outcome.

It is very likely that the cars may be still nearby. They park them up for a day or 2 to make sure they haven't got trackers fitted. It's well worth checking every street within a few miles of the address for them.

Really sorry to hear about the Clubman. It's just heart breaking when you work hard for something for it all to go...

Yeah i am currently trying (being the operative word here!) to fix up a 96 LR defender and most of it is all to do with security. Hear horror stories that people wake up and find a door or a loads of panels missing off them as they are all stolen to order! Had mine all road worthy since June last year but have it stored in a lock up still until the alarm and tracker is fitted - easier said then done though

I think that is on the cards for today, i believe the M140 has a tracker in it so the police are being quite good on that front

Except that with a tracker blocker that you simply plug in the cigarette lighter, they are pretty useless.

Update:

The Zed has been found! Police found it in Chelmsford (think you were right, Five-O with it being left nearby) and is in their custody whilst they carry out forensics. M140 still missing but at least that is slightly positive news and think getting the Zed back is a result as that is the rare one of the two.

High end cars often end up in containers waiting to be shipped overseas. Especially Landrovers.

Sorry to hear about this.
Glad at least the zed was recovered.
Can I ask how they were stolen?
Were the keys cloned ( if comfort access)
Or did they break in and steal the keys ?

When even thieves have second thoughts on VO, that's all one needs to know.
:poke:

What the hell is wrong with you? Are you just a thoroughly miserable, negative, person or do you do it on purpose?

Every time I see a post of yours it is negative....every time!

Quite a few, I had contacts in the trade who regularly exported cars from UK to Cyprus, Malaysia, Hong Kong but to name a few and my uncle used to buys cars in the UK to take to Kenya.

There are plenty of countries where they don't really care which side the steering wheel is on or whether the vehicle has any paperwork or keys with it!

Or even still with the original UK plates on it
