Stinky Washer Fluid

My god it smells like something has died in my washer reservoir!

I drained the system, ran with the washers running until it smelt clean, then topped back up with fluid. But now the smell has come back!

Anyone else experienced this, or have ideas how to cure it?

NOT good with the roof down!
 
Well I only bought the car a couple of weeks ago, this new fluid has gone stinky within 7-10 days. It was just water with washer fluid added.

The water in the car when I bought it wasn't all mouldy, it looked fresh and blue, as if it had washer fluid in it...
 
Im guessing that the reservoir has some kind of fungal infection of sorts. Try cleaning it out with a sterilizer like miltons

Just as long as you are using some type of screen wash in it, and not just plain water - wouldn't want to catch Legionairres' Disease!

If you are having problems with mould, then running a dilute bleach solution (not strong enough to damage paintwork!) through the system should help.
 
Take tank out and filters- two in total if you have headlight washers and then scrum the lot- I had this and the clean out has lasted a fair few years with no return smell.
