still waiting for a fuel pump

Its been on order for a month now and still not in stock. God help anyone who actually has one fail!!

You'd get a loan car without issue so it's not that big a deal. Plus I've not heard anyone say the pump has failed only that it makes a noise.

Crap roll out of a new parts system tho! You may also be in line for the free champagne some seem to be getting for their trouble!

I hate to alarm everyone but the second pump I had fitted (the new improved one) made a whining noise the other day!! :|

But only the once so for now I'm not bothered.

That's spooky as days after having mine fitted, I filled up and there it was again :( . Admittedly not as loud, but there nonetheless. I've been wondering whether to take it back or just live with it.

Are you planning to ignore it?

It's a bit weird, because when it made the noise with the original and also the first replacement pump, there was no mistaking at all that it was coming from the pump (very loud at rear). However on this new pump it made the noise maybe 2-3 times, and it was a lot quieter and I couldn't be sure that it was definitely coming from the tank - in fact I wasn't sure if it was maybe a noise belt of some kind in the engine bay (are there any belts)?!

Since it's not as loud and much less frequent, I'll leave it if it continues quietly like now, and will only visit the dealer if it gets much noisier or constant.

I think I'll adopt the same monitoring approach. I'm a bit more sensitive as I'm conscious that my warranty is up before too long...

Ah ok if your warranty I'd about to run out, get the car in for a check in my opinion. Just say that you want them to check if the level of noise is normal.

Mind you, the previous fix should be covered for a year under parts and labour warranty anyway, so perhaps just clarify this withy the dealer.

My car went in on 4th October to be checked and for them to confirm that it was the fuel pump before ordering the replacement.

I had a call from the dealership yesterday to say that the pump was now in stock and the car is now booked in on Friday to have it fitted. This was Elms in Cambridge.

I'd suggest a stern phone call to find out what on earth they are playing at!!
