Symptoms:
After the VANOS seals job, symptoms and high(?) adaptation remain. Next, I took the intake VANOS solenoid out. The pin in the center wasn't moving freely, i.e. I had to push it in lightly by finger, it was not moving itself by gravity. I cleaned the solenoid and the pin started to move freely again. Put it back in the car, but the issues remain.
Now I'm about to get a new solenoid, but before that, should I be looking at other possible reasons?
- non-linear throttle response, i.e. car surges at 3000-4000 rpms, especially on 2nd and 3rd gear with hard pulls, overall throttle not very smooth across the rpm range
- when checked on Foxwell, VANOS intake adaptation is at about 127 degrees, which I guess is on the high side? No fault codes though. Exhaust adaptation is around 100 degrees.
