Sticky Steering now FIXED!!!!!!!

So what’s the remedy ? A new steering column or some kind of adjustment ?
I’ve read the steering column is not serviceable ?
If it is / not, I’d love some info on how or companies that specialise in fixing the z4 pre 2006 steering column.
Any info would be greatly appreciated !

Well thanks for the tip.

I now have the sticky steering issue, first of all was it a lasting fix and secondly how did you avoid residual metal filings or dirt from getting in the worm gear box when installing the nipple?

because if it worked it would save me 3 grand.

Thanks

The grease nipple mod isn't generally regarding to be the best way to fix sticky steering these days. The eccentric ring motor adjustment which is dead easy to do is. Have a read of the thread linked in the post above yours as it's well documented in there

Aloha,
Writing from Kona HI to nfarmer I know it has been a while since your post of the sticky steering fix. My z4 has the exact same issue and our dealer is willing to do the job if I can get more details as to what, where and how to install the nipple and lube type. He needs as many specifics as possible. If you are still out there reading these posts please reply. pm or to my own email [email protected]
Many thanks!

[ref]nfarmer[/ref], [ref]nfarmer[/ref], Hello Nfarmer, i am trying to fix the sticky steering in my 05 3.0i, i greased all joints and moved the collar towards driver about 10mm. it has improved but i think it´ll need some greasing. If you could send me the greasing tips by email, i will be very grateful. [email protected]
Thanks in advance!

The greasing method discussed is not the right solution, and you risk causing damage. Adjusting the collar is the correct approach - it sounds like you perhaps just haven't adjusted as much as necessary yet.
