That's the ring that can be adjusted (screw drive sticking out) all to the left is tight, to the right is loose.

Wow that's an amazing photo! Exactly what I need to see. Got a BMW specialist quoting £2500 for a new column and I'm unsure if they've done this many times before. You know of anyone who can do a good job at it without having to put a whole new column in?

We'll talk over PM bud.

Anyone needs any photos drop me a PM, I did this job at home so it can be done easily.

I have the same problem on a 2006 face lift car. I can understand the adjustment that the picture shows but at what points does the column need greasing?

I've just replied in your thread. 😂.
The greasing is a separate fix to the adjustment option involving drilling a hole. The consensus now is the greasing isn't necessary just the adjustment fix which is easier anyway.

I think i suffer from this in my e86.
Is there a guide anywhere showing how its adjusted. Is the screw tightened or loosened?

It's tightening or loosened. It's not actually designed to remedy this issue. Most renault sports have this exact thing and it's there to either tighten or loosen the steering hence why some people say the problem comes back after a period of time, eventually you'll get to the end of it in the end and it won't go any further. Still it'll solve it for a long time.

Here you go chaps have a read of a thread I did a while ago.

That's fantastic, thank you very much. I'll give this a try and hopefully the problem will go away. Although I think I'll wait for the weather to warm up a bit.

I think there are varying degrees of it TBH. Never considered my 3.0 to have suffered from it, until I drove the 2.0 I have..

So a little adjustment (10 mins) and the steering on the 3.0 is much better!

Hi, mine has been doing it for about 6 months. Been putting it off, worried about the cost of it

Heya, looking a 2003 2.5 to buy. Guy says it has sticky steering to the point where he doesn't trust others to drive it besides himself.. To get this totally and permanently resolved, how much am I realistically looking at?
