Sticky Steering - Add yourself if you've been affected

x2 - suffering from this, pics would be great. Also, what brand of spray grease ?
 
The first one is obvious, the second one is harder to see but if you have someone turn the steering wheel you'll soon see it, best to have a spray grease with an extension tube, any auto sprayable grease will do it, nothing fancy.

You can't see the second one in the photo, but it gives an idea of its location, Bing, let young bing do this as it involves work under the bonnet and I don't want you to break anything :D

So, just spray both joints liberally ? What brand did you use ?

I used a grease gun and a length of hose pipe to direct the grease into the lower joint - when the engine is cool though otherwise sticky steering becomes smelly-burning-sticky-plastic-and-grease :)

+1 on Stuart's comment though - it was a temporary fix that got me through a few months, but the stickiness got progressively worse, solved by a replacement steering column. There is a post on the forum where someone had their Indy strip the column down and fix it - not sure if that worked long term?
 
Cheers Mark - I am sans warranty, so a new column is not an option. May ask the advice of my Indy next month :thumbsup:
 
isnt this part of the steering column classed as the lower section, so not the £2000 part??? any ideas on prices of the section pictured above??
 
Hi - see my earlier thread including pics re this - the partial column fix has worked for me - including 2200 mile round Germany, Switzerland, Stelvio etc with no reoccurence to date.
