Sticky caliper straight after oil service

Car went in for an oil service this morning at Halliwell Jones. Came out requiring a new oil sump (£600 for parts and under warranty thank god) due to a problem with the sump plug. However I'd just got onto the M62 and within a few miles the tyre pressure warning light came on and I started to feel a slight wobble. I Pulled over and checked pressures which were fine so got back in the car and continued. The wobble was still there and got progressivley worse the faster I went so I slowed down and continued. When I came off the motorway I stopped and had another look. It didnt take long to figure out there was something wrong the the front LH brake. The disk was a bluey/purple colour and the heat coming off it was intense. I nursed the car to the meeting that I was already late for and then drove home at 17:30 when the meeting had finished. The problem was still very much present.

Part of the service is to check and clean and test the calipers. Is it possible that whatever is involved in this process has caused the sticky caliper or am I putting 2+2 together and coming up with 97 ? Also will the caliper be covered under warranty.

Had a quick search, you are the third sticking caliper, all front nearside. I think it is a fairly common occurrence, does sound a bit of a coincidence though.
 
the pikey buggers....... they damaged the threads on the sump ;-) easily done if your heavy handed, i watched simpson do mine and winced @ the design, so easy to mess up...
at lleast you got this sorted under warranty thankgod.

Re the caliper, this seems to be coming abit of an issue now with cars getting older..... unfortunatly no testing they could do would cause it to stick really, im guessing it was a visual inspection anyway that they'd do, unfortunatly this is going to be classed as a wear and tear item......
 
Just had a call from Halliwell Jones and it is a stuck caliper which they say will be replaced under warranty. :D :D They then threw into the mix "You will probably get some judder because the disk will have overheated because of the failure so we recommend you replace the disks and pads as well, which are not covered under warranty" :x :x :x

I have asked them to confirm that even though disks and pads are wear and tear item, in this instance I would expect any consequential damage resulting from a component failure would also be covered, especially when the disks and pads are less than 12 months old. :headbang:

Happy Days. Just had a call from dealer. New caliper, disks, pads replaced under insured warranty. Seems a shame to sell it now. :(
