Ok drove the car for the first time in ages today. It got me to work no problem. Then on the way home I started getting a bit of vibration. I found somewhere to pull over and the driver side wheel is radiating heat. Quite sure the calliper is sticking but what would cause that? Had new brakes 5k miles ago the car dose stand for quite long periods any ideas?

The car us now going to be a drive way sculpture until the workshop is fixed. I just don't have time to work on it any time soon.

Beetlegav and johnny Essex had the sticky caliper problem I believe. Can't remember what the exact issue was but it cost a few bob to sort if I remember correctly.

One of my calipers was sticking
I bought a seal kit and pulled the caliper apart, replaced the seals and the piston re lubed

Cost about 30 quid aside

Or you could just buy a new caliper but thats a few quid

I think you right Sam it will probably just be the seals. Me and Rob had a little project planed for our brakes so might just be getting that done a bit quicker!!

Hi Mat,

If you whip the piston out to replace the seal, have a good look to see if ther is any corrosion creeping under the seal and into the part of the piston normally in the cylinder - Better still make yourself some carriers for those 4 pot Alfa calipers  .

Stu.

Yeah i think its a sine from the modding god! I dont think Rob will be happy with me pinching his calipers!

The car will be parked up now until the workshop is finished as i just dont have time. I have some quite big plans for it once the workshop is finished and i have the cash!!

I had a new caliper fitted. It was only about £30 for a whole new caliper.

Mine stuck on while on a major hoon. Disc was glowing

Matt, I bet I could strip it down and get it moving with no new parts TBH. I bet it's just surface rust that needs a clean up.

I may well be in the area Monday afternoon/evening if you want me to have a go?

I just dont have time Rob i have sent you a PM describing my feelings about my car!! And the situation i am in with time!!!

You don't need time for me to fix it mate :P You can crack on with whatever you're doing and I'll take a look over it if you want.

MM what brake disc size do you have? I have a pair of front calliper s available 300mm PM me if you need them. No one interested in the brake upgrade on the forum
