Sticking caliper

I just came back from a final test drive before spring and noticed an awful burning smell coming from the front right disc and calliper. Surely the calliper is sticking because the disc was hot. I’m going to take the calliper off and check everything, but is this a common issue? I did paint the caliper etc in order for it look " nice" but perhaps it could be the culprit?

They do get old and stick, but if you painted it, first make sure you didn't clog up the groove that the hooks on the ends of the pads sit in. Wire brush those and add a small smear of copper grease so the pads can move freely as the calliper moves.

Felt a slight wobble aswell would that relate to the disc getting hot?

No that'll be as the calliper is sticking, so one brake is exerting more pressure than the other.
Unless it's got so hot it's warped a disc!!!
Tbh, replacement callipers are quite cheap and very easy to change, so if it is sticking i wouldn't waste too much time on trying to free it off.

Just looked on Ebay 35 quid for a pair!!! new so i think ill just get them and change them.

Just check they are decent quality ones.
When you change them, tweak the flexi pipe connection into the calliper first to loosen it a little. You cant twist it to unscrew or you'll knacker the hose, so loosen it a little while the calliper is still held firmly. Then unbolt the calliper and spin it off the hose.
Stick a bit of clingfilm under the reservoir cap to create a slight vacuum so you don't lose much fluid. As long as you don't let the reservoir level drop very much you will get away with only bleeding those callipers and not have to worry about the rears or the ABS unit.
