randomly when I turn the car on, the sound doesn't work...it does work most of the time but every now and then it doesn't. if I turn the stereo off and on, it doesn't fix the problem.

anyone had this issue and know how to fix it? carver amp + intravee etc fitted-if that makes a difference.

I found my battery had leaked on my amp causing it to go funny would cut out when turned to high etc. I had the audios hop by pas the amp and fit another one all work fine again maybe you have similar amp problem. The location of the amp isn't great being so low down in the boot area. Its same in a e46 which were common for failing due to the circuit board inside going bad from cold damp weather

I'm not sure that's my issue mate. It's been happening a lot recently so I'm convinced it's something to do with the heat. Maybe something is overheating and stops working?

Mine won't switch on occasionally, Nav and screen still work ok but radio won't come on no matter how many times i push the button, switch the ign off and on again works ok ?

have you checked for a water leak into the boot, usual culprit is the vents located under the bumper. The first thing that fills up with water is the battery well and the amp gets a soaking

had a look, cant see any evidence of a water leak or flooding or battery leak. I see a some leaves and stuff like that in there though?

Keeps happening! Anyone ?! Please

Is it just the sound that stops and the radio display and tuning still works ok ?

If so it could be one of the speakers has a short on it causing the amp to go into protection by cutting the output.

Stuart

Yes. Just the sound stops. Everything else is working fine.

Is it possible that this shorting can be increased due to hot weather? Been finding its happening a lot more nowadays.

It is possible that you have a duff speaker in that case, bit of a bitch to try to locate the one though

Stuart

If it's a short then getting a diagnostics would narrow it down. Short circuits are logged.
You can also run some tests in DIS.

If you have t got the software someone here nearby might be kind enough to sort or get yourself to a specialist
