stereo question

How do you know the type of bmw standard sterosystem you have? what models exist? I´ve got the Buisness one is that the "low_standard"?

Not sure about current cars, but for mine, the short answer is count the speakers:
If you have 6, you have the base stereo
If you have 10 (including subs behind the seats) you have either middle or top.

If you have 10, check your stereo. Hit the music key to see if you have DSP settings. If you have DSP settings, you have the Carver top system.

GVfB has more info than you'd ever want on this. It might be in the DIY section already.

did the 3.0 Z4 ever come with only 6 speakers? didn't the 3.0 Z4 come with the non-Carver 10 speaker system as standard?

If you have the pockets behind the seats (not the nets, but pockets) then you have the 'low' system.

If these are filled with speakers, you have one of the upgraded systems.

If you turn the stereo up loud and it distorts easily, you have the low system !

thanks!
I´ve got two speakers behind each chair so it´s probably not the low_end system then :)

If you have the HiFi or Carver you'll have a sub and speaker behind each seat (i.e. 2 behind each seat, 4 in total behind the seats). Another one down near your feet, another in the middle of the door and another one in the door near where the side mirror is.

So, if you just have one speaker behind each seat you unfortunately only have the regular stereo.
