Stereo q re ipod

Hi- on my previous coupe I had an iPod connection but no multi changer and when I connected the iPod the nav screen displayed titles. I've just picked up a roadster and I have the same oem lead in the glovebox but in order to make the iPod work I have to have a cd in the changer and the iPod comes up as disc 7 (of 6) with no titles. With no disc in place I get a few seconds of music before it switches back to the radio after displaying 'no disc'.

Is this as difference in model year (07 vs 06) or has it been wired in an odd way as all the literature I can find on fitting the lead suggests it replaces the changer. Just that I was going to put a bluetooth receiver in the iPod connection but it's a bit of a pain not to have the track info...?

There are A few makes and models available.

BMW
Dension
Media Bridge
Intravee

It is likely that the system you had before and now are not the same.

Dension and intravee have ID3 takes, the BMW does not. I can't comment on the Media Bridge.

When the iPod is plugged in, what splash screen is displayed?

I get the screen which (from memory) says 'cd changer'. Both had the standard black lead in the glovebox- perhaps my old car did have some fancy box of tricks although it didn't seem to have any other features aside from the titles showing up and the screen title was 'ipod'.

The one I have now is definitely just standard bmw as I have the instruction book for it in the wallet so if they never show id3 tags then I guess I had something aftermarket in the old car unbeknownst to me.

Thanks

Would bet the last one was a Dension, Would still give you just a black lead.

Think you can still assign the first five playlists to buttons 1-5 on the head unit though.
