Stereo power

Is the stereo always powered up on the e89? I've noticed when switched off it always has the time and date on it like some kind of standby mode and the switched live fires up my amp and active sub even if I'm not using the stereo.

I would like for when my stereo is off for it to be actually off so I'm not drawing current to things I'm not using.. Im not sure if this has been coded to the car or if its just a “feature " of the stereo.

It looks like the radio is fed with power all the time through a normal set of wires..

Its 'woken' by itself (if you press a knob) or via the can bus when the car 'wakes up'

explanation here

The radio on 'wake up' sends power to any offboard amp and the ASD if fitted..

I just finished wiring up my amp and the AudioControl LC6i LOC. The LC6i has a LED to show when power is on and I noticed even with the radio turned off and the key removed, if I open the boot or a door the LED on the LC6i comes on just a for a minute or so and then switches off. So it seems various things in the car tends to awake the power to the radio.

Yes buddy this is exactly what happens, seems odd all these things fire up just from unlocking the door, no wonder the batteries run flat so often :x
