Stéphane Ortelli's crash at 1000km of Monza

He was racing his Courage Oreca (LMP1) at the Le Mans Series last Sunday in Monza when something went very wrong during braking. I tell you it looks like one bad crash.. Makes Kovalainen's crash in Barcelona look like a fender-bender. Fortunately like Kovalainen neither Ortelli was severely hurt and apparently escaped with only a broken ankle!

Unfortunately, for me i didnt watch the 1000km of Monza because my friends who i was having lunch with for Easter (it was the Greek-Orthodox Easter on Sunday) wanted to watch F1 instead... Grrr. I prefer GT and LMP racing anytime. Anyway this is the crash.

Just suddenly snapped out of control! Weird huh? Just goes to show you how fragile any race car really is and how far driver safety technology has gone. If this was a decade or so ago he would have been injured badly.

Lucky Audi guy though...
