Steering Wheel

So I've decided I don't like my steering wheel. Do any other BMW steering wheels fit the E89? Having never even thought about this before I have no idea what would make one compatible or not...

I swapped my standard wheel for the MSport version with the newer paddles and had it refurbished by Royals. They did a great jobwheels 2.jpg

You can have an Audi-esque flat bottom too

So many choices! Alcantara is tempting... but will it grip well and last as long?

That'll give me an extra 5bhp, right??

It'll last longer than you will be able to buy petrol for your car matey

Look at Control Customs too. Mine is there right now. Hopefully back next week or so. They were the only folk I could find that preserved the heating element. And their beefy handles look nicer, IMHO.

Appreciate the suggestion, I'll check them out too.

what did you go for from control customs?
I’m so glad someone else here has gone to them
I was so impressed with what they did for me . Absolutely cracking job

Thanks
Originally had the order to include the carbon steering wheel centre bits also , and DID nearly buy a carbon dash from someone on here but I bottled it , thinking it would all be too much . It’s been on a fair time now and STILL makes me smile ( cold to the touch in winter with the roof down is the one negative, but I love it

I cannot yet comment on the product itself. But I can say working with Radek/Control has been great. I’ve made a rookie mistake with the customs paperwork, and it was the 13th Labour to get the wheel to their shop. (In addition to Covid and Brexit.) Radek did everything from his end, stayed in touch, sorts it all out. Kudos to him.

Is your’s a heated variant?

Mine is. Control was the only shop I’ve found that would guarantee the heat would stay. I went to a local shop (near Tesla in Fremont). Legit stuff. But their prices were insane. It was cheaper to post to the U.K., pay currency exchange, etc.

The local shop, though, have gorgeous bespoke carbon fibre paddle shifters. But same story, super expensive.

I transferred my Royal steering wheel from my non heated sw 20i to my 35is with sw heat..so loosing that option..

Everyone to their tastes but the carbon fibre look, although I'm sure is exqusite craftmanship doesn't float my boat..

The Royal version as I had it done doesn't leave the hands with a cold feeling when you grip it (unlike the OE leather MSport)

Always interested in what other folks do and their journeys though
