Steering wheel wear

Hey guys, I'm in the market for a M coupe and I found one that I like. It has low mile but it also has some wear in the steering wheel. Is this normal on these cars? Also is there anything in particular I should be looking for on the M's? Are there any concerns about the S52 motors? Thank you.

With some time an patience you can strip the rubberised coating off with some isopropyl alcohol, then spray paint with matte black lacquer. You have to take all the rubber off though, and it takes ages - therefore a well ventilated area to work in is essential unless you want to end the day tripped out

There is a guy on the M3Cutters forum that refurbs them, username lovatt
OP is based in the US though, otherwise I am sure others would have recommended Royal too

No worries. The interior door handles can scratch easily as well.

Hmm, I have some nasty scratches on mine & have been considering replacing them-I won't bother if they are prone to it!

My passenger side was perfect, a few female passengers later = rings/bangles and whatnot = scratches

I believe a few forumites have wrapped them.

Haha, thats funny because the previous owner of this car was a female. I could probably live with the wear, but I won't lie, it did bother me as it was the first thing I saw when I sat in the car. Honestly, I'm more concerned about the reliability of the car than some cosmetics.

I live just outside of Washington DC, and I rarely see these cars around. Is this forum more Euro based?

Thanks for the advise, guys. Much appreciated.
