Steering wheel swap

I have a 2004 manual e85 without the radio controls on the steering wheel. I have found a Z4 being wrecked locally that has been fitted with an M steering wheel with the controls on the spokes. The only problem being is that it's off an automatic so has the paddle shifters. My question being is it possible to remove the paddle shifters without ruining the look of the wheel and use it in place of the standard wheel? If someone has some pictures of the rear side of an M wheel, for an automatic, as well that would help out greatly. Thanks.

Damn I've been looking for a wheel with buttons and paddles for ages! They are so hard to get in the UK.

Basically the paddles just unscrew from the wheel, but you'll need a new rear cowl, as the current one will have cutouts for the paddles. You will of course need one without cutouts. Super easy swap, just three screws.

Here's my thread of my pondering how to add paddles to a steering wheel, might be helpful as it has a few pics (standard wheel but I imagine the M is very very similar

You can remove the paddles but I would think you would need new rear standard plastic trim pieces (without the holes for the paddles) for the spokes to make it look good.

Cheers. Thanks for that. Would it be possible to use the trim from the standard wheel, without the cutouts, on the M wheel? On the other hand I might just buy the wheel and leave the paddles on and just ignore them.......if the price is right.

If you do end up buying it, I'd be very interested in a photo of the wiring, as I'm trying to diy paddles onto my steering wheel

When I contacted him it was already sold.....which is surprising as there aren't that many Z4's in Aus.
