I have seen some of the work that the guys over at Royal Steering Wheels have done for a few forum members, and really like the look of it. I have never been happy with the feel of the standard steering wheel so my plan is to ask these guys to put extra padding on the wheel and then recover with nappa leather on the top and bottom, with perforated leather on the sides. Probably stick with black stitching, but could be persuaded on this one!
I rang them up earlier and the guy said that they have my spec steering wheel (multi-function) in stock so they will work on that one, and then when I drive up there, they will switch over the various parts/covers etc from mine onto the newly covered frame. Looking through the various posts on here, people have talked about concerns around swapping their own steering wheel for a random one that Royal have in stock, but from the sounds of things, its only the frame that won't be mine and that won't be visible!? Presumably all the visible parts will swap over?
Has anyone had any problems with wheels from these guys?
Going to get him to recover my ZHP 6-speed knob when it arrives too - total price for both was £120, but think that is cheaper since I leave nearby and will drive to him.
Cheers,
Tom
