I have also just received some soft touch lacquer. I'm hoping this might replicate the feel of the original finish. I'm hoping to give it a go in the next few weeks. Might take me longer but either way I will report back.

You could try, I wouldn't personally. Airbag is very easy to remove anyway. Remove negative from battery, don't shut boot, put a cloth over catch to stop it closing! Go and make a brew, drink it, go back to car, using a flat head screwdriver, push into hole on one side of wheel, downwards at an angle, you'll feel a spring clip, press it inward's and pull at that side of the Airbag. Then the same other side. Plastic spokes far easier to remove and less chance of breaking them. In my defence, I have a Coupe that I haven't had long. I only noticed the rear badge acted as a handle, when I changed it pmsl! Wondered why the tailgate was a PITA to lift when it was unlocked via the key or interior remote. I'm too busy pulling things apart to notice trivial things like that lol. Also my 944's hatch key lock needs power to open it, I presume the Z doesn't. You either have to put a battery pack to the under bonnet remote terminals (which you could do with the Z, if you have a pack of course) or crawl into the rear ( which your not going to do in a roadster) to manually open it if the battery goes flat! So I was probably being over cautious. Ah well, another day, something new learnt
