Steering wheel leather refresh

I have done this numerous times now with great results. One of my pet hates is a grimy shiny leather steering wheel.

Ive tried the usual leather cleaning products, but nothing works like this.

Take a new Flash magic eraser (any make will do, pack of 10 for £4.50 on amazon).

Wet it and very lightly with no pressure wipe the wheel. Nice and smooth. Then use a damp microfibres cloth. It will look like new. A nice satin leather finish.

Word of warning. It will only reveal what's under the grime. It will not make damaged leather like new.

Do not scrub. Just wipe in lines gently then wipe with a damp microfibres.

This removes or at least damages the top coat of the leather, so I'd not use this on a newer car. It will get dirtier faster after you remove that top coat. Now, on an old wheel it may be worth it.

I would recommend using this product as a follow up to the above - puts a new layer of top coat on that self seals and gives a nice matt finish

I agree if you rub with any pressure . Hence I said VERY light surface wipe. I’ve done this on all my cars without removing the coat. Only the grime comes off.

Newer cars shouldn’t be that bad to warrant it.

I’ll send a close up of my current wheel when I get out.
