steering wheel column and dash alignment

I am new to the Z4 world, so bear with me. I just noticed that the steering wheel column and the dash does not line up. The column (and the steering wheel as a result) seems to be angled towards the door instead of directly aligned with the dash. Is this normal or is my car a freak?

Nice looking book. I'll have to support my local independent bookstore and order a copy (or ask Santa). :D

2004 copyright, though... so from the Table of Contents it doesn't look to cover the development of the coupe. :(

But I'm a sucker for automotive books, so thanks for the lead!
