Steering wheel 'clicking'

I've had 3000 trouble free mile since buying my 39,000 mile 03 3.0i SE but have just noticed a slight problem. The steering wheel is making a slight 'clicking' sound when being turned and the noise is most noticeable as the wheel is returned to centre. The car has just this week passed an MOT and has no noticeable play in the column and doesn't suffer from any of the 'sticky' steering issues that I've read about. Could anyone please give me a pointer? :?

just a thought, just readjust and re tighten the column hight / reach adjust leaver.

something like this happened to me once, try it in a slightly different position.

You might have one of the cable ties under the cowling catching in the steering column

Mine's just started doing this, too. I agree with Rob - it'll be something catching in the cowling most likely. Common issue on Vauxhalls, anyway.

x2 with Darios post. Adjusting the height/reach cured a similar issue on my Z
