Steering wheel centre nut removal

So in the on-going saga of chasing down the issue with my indicators, I acquired a new indicator stalk a few weeks ago.

Went to fit it yesterday and I cannot for all the will in the world, remove the centre nut on the steering wheel. Breaking bar did absolutely nothing. Am I missing something, or..?

It will give eventually- just need a decent bar

Halfords advanced set. Never let me down before. Has worked on everything on my Zed from suspension bits to wheel nuts buts but this will not let go!
The Youtube video I watched, the guy used an impact driver. This necessary?

I had mine off several times testing and installing my paddle retrofit. It’s quite high torque but not insurmountable. It helps if you can get another pair of hands on the steering wheel, so you are not twisting against the steering lock (feels like you might break something).

I finally got it off. The steering wheel lock actually helped. I just needed to not be afraid of it!

Just in the process of replacing it now. Pelican parts says if the clock spring is replaced, it'll need to be coded to work. Now unless I misunderstood what the clock spring is, I believe I got the entire assembly from Barry - wiper, indicator stalk and clock spring.
So will this cause issues or am I better just replacing the indicator stalk and fitting the rest of my own assembly back in?

Swapping the stalk is easy. I think I would just go for that and not risk introducing other issues.

Done! Thanks :D

Don't suppose you know the torque spec for the centre nut? Going by the difficulty it was to get off I wanna say about 100Nm?

Three white knuckles
Doesn't need to be stupidly tight as the wheel is splined on as well.

~63 seems to be it according to the Google machine!
Let's see if it has fixed the issue!

Nonsense, I replaced mine with a non-OEM copy because I needed the extra pins for the paddles and it didn’t need any coding.

Well, I've left all my parts in place with the exception of the indicator stalk itself but good to know the coding is BS!
