Steering wheel center badge is looking a bit jaded......best place to get one, fleabay or stealers?
Does it just prise off?
Cheers for advice  DSC_0298.JPG

It looks like someone has stuck an ebay badge on top of the original emblem and upon removal, has ruined the original badge. I'm unsure how to remove it, or whether it can infact be removed anyway. Your best and cheapest bet would be to purchase a new stick on badge from eBay. I think it's 40 or 45mm. I had a carbon effect one on my wheel for a couple of years. You wouldn't have known it was stuck on at all.

This is one of those "they all do that" things. Unfortunately there is no way to replace the badge without replacing the entire airbag, it's all one unit. Not caused by an Ebay sticker, I'd bet on it - I've seen several with this exact problem and it's always the factory badge that's crapping out.

Just be careful sticking something on top as it'll fly towards your face at high speed if your airbag goes off!

Cheers fellas for the range of replies.

The module is a snip at $877 !!!

Understand the concern of just sticking a new badge on top and it flying off with deployment.......how does the airbag deploy? Does the cover move? I know on some cars there is a small flap but it doesn't look like that type?

I have removed my badge, it is held in by three metal "legs" part of the tin badge, they fold into the cover of the airbag.
Remove at your risk!
I then glued an E30 centre plastic badge in place.

I re-iterate your risk, as mentioned the new badge may well fly in the event of a crash.

Thanks for the Info on removal JL-c. Shropshire lad as well

I think I'm going to remove and glue as you did. Having done a bit of research for deployed bmw airbags, I have found a couple of methods. If the casing splits open I can't see that affecting the center badge. If the panel flips open that may be a problem but as the airbag deploys in 1/25th of a second the glue should hold it in place. I have some 3M double back tape for attaching spoilers, number plates etc once cured it holds like a limpet!
