Steering wheel badge

I will be attempting to replace my steering wheel badge tomorrow.

Question is……. Do I just stick the new one on top of the old one or……

Do a proper job and remove the old one without causing any damage?

Is there a simple way of doing it? Or any tips?

TIA 😃

Drive it into a wall fairly fast. This should remove the old badge in a cloud of talcum powder.

Sorry................ Tamnavulin talking.

Sticking it on top will look awful.

Carefully prise the old one out I would suggest

Stick on top it looks fine, no one will notice short of taking a magnifying glass to it and even then...There's one that fits perfectly but can't remember the size off the top of my head (think 45mm).

You won't get the old badge off without making a proper mess, if you can get at it at all. It's kind of crimped on to the whole unit so very very difficult to remove, although I imagine possible if you really wanted. You'll have to buy a new airbag if you want a 'as new' look which is daft as they aren't cheap and just for the sake of a badge....

Stuck this on top 5 years ago and you can't tell it from the original. Sticky backed so has to be right first time, needs the original one in place for a base. Sorry about the reflections.

Is sticking something on that a good idea? I'm not sure I'd want it flying toward by face in the event of airbag deployment.

It's a vinyl sticker with very little mass and very strong contact adhesive. Probably the least of our worries if the air bag has activated.

Not sure what you mean, sticking a thin(ish) badge on top of the original one won't make any difference as the original badge won't come flying off (hence why it's so difficult to remove!).

Ah OK, I thought this was a stick on badge rather than vinyl. I know the OE badge doesn't deploy with the bag, rather the split is around.

Stuck it on! Piece of piss really. Thanks for the tip

Black one is the new one!
