Steering rack loose

Hi all,
I'd like some help please.
I've got a clunking noise in what I thought was my suspension.
It happens usually at very slow speeds and rough road surface.
Today I jacked up the car and when rocking the wheel I noticed that it was very loose, it seems that the issue lies somewhere withing the steering rack.
Does anyone know is this supposed to be so loose?
Thank you

So I removed the rubber boot and didn't see any movement in the inner tie rod ball joint, but the play comes from inside the rack.
If anyone has more knowledge about this I'd love to hear it.
Thanks

Check both tie rods. If not slide the boot back from the rack and check it isn't dry or worn on the teeth.

I'm still having issues with noise on rough road surface. Sometimes it sounds like some metal bracket is loose.
I'll have it inspected by mechanics to make sure it's safe.

Not steering rack I know but have you checked the anti roll bar bracket ?

I need to get another look at it, but when I gave it a good shake it seemed solid.
There is a little gap though where ARB meets rubber bushing, probably needs replacing.
My neighbour started calling me obsessed, there wasn't a day in a week I didn't fix something
