Hi all,

Recently had an advisory on play in the steering rack inner joints. Are there any specific parts that I should be replacing at the same time as these? I'm a bit of an amateur when it comes to stuff like this

Thanks in advance

Maybe the outer tie rods ends at the same time while your mechanic is there. Wheel alignment will also need to be redone. http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/BMW_Z4M/79-SUSPEN-Tie_Rod_End_Replacement/79-SUSPEN-Tie_Rod_End_Replacement.htm

Thanks all.

I go to a mechanics club which starts again next Tuesday. I'll get a good look over it and see what I need to replace, but outer tie rod ends sounds a good shout.

I have some spare for sale here http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=99964

I may be in touch some point next week if they're still around. Cheers

When I did mine I had to get a large ball joint splitter. You may be best to hire one rather than buy one otherwise it just sits in your tool box for years. My tie rods were stuck to the rod so I had to use a blow lamp to get them off. About 5 minutes of heat managed to remove them

Cheers Raymond. Fortunately I have access to every tool under the sun as I do an evening class at Edinburgh college :)
