Steering pulling over pot holes

Hi there picked my z4 up yesterday it's a 2006 2.0ltr se model with 18 inch wheels. I feel the steering wheel is pulling to the side going over pot holes different road surfaces etc. the car alignment was done prior too me picking the car up but something doesn't feel right. The garage says its due too the bigger wheels being on the car that's causing the problem. Any one got any ideas what it could be?

Had exactly the same problem with my 18 inch wheels. Frankly it was scary but following advice elsewhere on this forum, I swapped the Bridgestone run flats for normal tyres. Problem now competely resolved. I may be the first to suggest this but I'm sure there will be a chorus of others saying the same thing.
 
Hi and welcome to you both.

As above if Bridgestone run flats are awful tyres, change to some Falken 452's or other non runflats and it will be much better, as will grip in the wet.
 
It's called tramlining, normal with bigger wheels and performance tyres.

'High performance tires with short sidewalls that develop lots of cornering power at lower slip angles will be more susceptible to tramlining than standard All-Season passenger tires that develop less cornering force until their slip angle increases. A wider treaded tire will encounter more longitudinal ruts and/or grooves in the road than a narrow treaded tire.'

Yeh just spoke too the guy that I bought it from he said they are run flats that are on it. Will get them changed eventually and see if that helps it thanks for the advice :)
 
Runflats are ok with me, I know a lot of people on here dont like them.
I don't really think that would make much difference to be honest.....best thing to do is keep out the pot holes!! :wink:
 
Yeah, and doing that involves weaving round the road too :lol:
