When you drill the aluminium housing at the intersection of the aluminium housing with the purpose of fitting the grease nipple, is there a definite gap before you hit the steering shaft?

I have adjusted the ring in various increments up to 20mm and back again but this has not fixed the notch/sticky steering. I have read other posts which state that greasing the electric drive cogs/shaft may cure the problem. Can anyone who has performed this mod answer my original question please?

Its always nice when new members come along with a problem - do you bring anything else with you? How about an introduction and pics of your car - did anyone else mention photos?
This is a free to view free to join forum - if you search the post I think that members have sprayed silicon grease onto the UV joints on the shaft before trying anything as invasive as drilling (by the way where does all the swarf go?) people are trying to help you and your last post feels like foot stamping. I understand you have a problem to fix - why else would you have joined - but the forum is not on hire to you.

Well I may be a newbie member but how disappointing! I ask a simple question and offered advice that is already available and then the responses degenerate to inappropriate remarks.

Personally I've not seen a grease nipple being added to the Z4 steering rack but that's not to say it couldn't be done. If there's no answer to the definite gap that all I would suggest is to take it very slowly.
Hopefully someone who has done this can shed some more light.

I had the sticky steering issue. Remove the front offside wheel (assuming you're in the UK?) And you will see behind the disc a rubber sleeve. Undo the clip holding the sleeve on and wack some silicon grease onto the cogs underneath. Be liberal with the grease and turn the wheel full lock a few times whilst doing so (obviously with fingers out of the way.) I cable tied the rubber sleeve back on and it's stayed put four months and counting. Fixed the issue and touch wood it's not come back. Should be the same for yours. No need to drill anything. Also, I second what others have said, head over to the newbies section and introduce yourself and show us what you've got! We love a good pic on here.

If you moved the ring 20mm and it didn't cure it then perhaps you haven't got the same issue that others have had. As LittleZ4 said if you had given more info e.g. what year your car is and that you had tried moving the ring already then I would have answered differently but I don't think greasing is the final solution.
