steering knock

i suspect this may be a track rod end or a wishbone ball joint but i thought i would ask to see if anyone else has any ideas

when driving the car 'enthusiastically' sometimes there seems to be a knock from the front of the car, it feels like its at the front left hand side.

seems to happen when exiting a roundabout at the limit with the back just starting to slide.

the only recent work to the car has been a new set of disc's & pads at the front, i have checked the wheel bolts are all tight just incase, i think it might just be a coinsidence though.

i am going through the same thing. Knock sound coming from steering column ( i think) problem started om my z4 m coupe today .
Took it in to bmw and had all wishbone ball joints checked and bushes.
However the noise is still there . where is the track rod end ?
