Steering Issue. Fixed?

When I bought my car, it had a steering issue. I sent the EPS motor away to ECU testing, and all was fine for the next 18 months. Until yesterday, when I started the car in the morning, and it had no power steering at all.

I scanned it and got the codes;

6127-Steering angle
6128 Vehicle speed
6116 Relays

I cleared the codes, started it up, and hey presto, it’s working!
It seems strange that the codes stopped it working. Is it a failsafe of some description? Trouble is, I’m now expecting this issue to come back again, probably mid corner on my favourite B-road….

Could the motor be on it’s way out again? Any thoughts?

I would start by speaking to ECU Testing and telling them exactly the same. See what they say?

They may say get the steering angle sensor recalibrated first

How would I go about doing that?

I assume you mean the calibration?
Find someone with the INPA suite of software and they can do it properly with Tool32. I think Zedebee put a guide on here some time back.
Some handheld scanners do an ‘adaptation’ but I’m not sure if that is the same thing?
