Steering column rattling?

Anyone encountered this? Am wiggling the steering wheel to replicate the sound but it noticeably rattles over any bumps or rough roads (of which there are many near me!).

Loose linkage in the steering column?
 
I had a bit of noise from steering area on my car when reversing out of drive over a small lip on kerb...it disappeared when I did the hydraulic steering conversion so presumably it was coming from my rack ...the rack that came off definitely had wear in it , car has done 80k .
All other suspension parts had been replaced previously and rattle was still there at that point .

just watched the video...not same noise as mine ... I would check the uj shaft between the column and the rack for free play and go from there
 
Yes you can but a lot easier to replace the intermediate shaft as a complete unit ...look on real oem for the appropriate part number for your car and put a wanted on here or look on ebay etc for a good used one . Its normally the lower uj that gives problems as its close to the exhaust...on the 3.0 anyway
 
Get someone to rock the steering while you look at the uj on the shaft to check for play ...if it looks ok then start checking other bits like inner track rod joints etc :thumbsup:
 
Hydraulic or EPAS?

I've had two of the (6 or 8 ) EPAS mounting bolts fall out. Makes a helluva rattle when they hit the floor!
