Steering Angle Sensor

My '06 2.0 Sport is currently off the road because neither BMW or my local specialist can source a steering angle sensor. Apparently it's been discontinued and e-bay has brought up nothing for the last month so I wonder if anyone out there might know where I can get my hands on one.

The BMW part number is 32 30 6 793 313. If I can find new old stock that would be great, if not then used but functional will do the job.

Hope someone out there can help.

Thanks.

I’ve got one

Will dig it out to check codes but can pop in the post tomorrow

Cheers

Note also

Your code ending 313 is for the full repair kit which includes a load of other bits and bobs

Bigwinn - that's a result, thanks a lot.
If you can check the codes I'll definitely take it.
What's the form from here? I'm a newbie to this marketplace but happy to do what's necessary. I may ask you to post it to my garage as I'm about to go on holiday.

Hi Bigwinn,
Apologies if you get this twice, the first one didn't seem to go.

I spoke to my garage this morning about the repair kit v the individual sensor and they spoke to BMW. It appears that although the repair kit has been discontinued they can get hold of the individual sensor, so they have ordered it. Don't know why they didn't do that a month ago.

That means I don't currently need your sensor BUT if it turns out they've ordered the wrong part I'll be in touch again next week to see if you still have it. I hope you don't feel I've mucked you about on this.

All the best.

Hi there

I had the same cluster of dash lights which pointed to the steering angle sensor. Before pulling out the column to replace it, get a decent garage to see if their diag machine can recalibrate it - mine is now fine with no working lights just because the computer told it that it was ok. Saves cash, headache and time - worth a shot

HTH.

HTH.

Good advice, thanks.
In this case I took it to an electrical specialist first just to run diagnostics, they couldn't fix it so I moved it on for repair.
