Steering angle sensor problem

Hi all,
My Z4 (e86 si) gave me the infamous 4 dashboard lights - ABS, brake fluid (!), tyre pressure and the traction control light. I plugged it to the BMW scanner 1.4, there were 3 errors - electronic car immobilisation system, steering angle sensor and central body electronic. I cleared it, the steering angle one went away but the other 2 remained. After starting the car, the 3 light on the dash come back and the oil level check never finds the value, even when the engine is warm. After a short ride, scanner still finds only 2 errors - immobilisation and central body electronic. After a longer drive, the steering angle error also comes back. My suspicion is that it's the steering angle sensor, but I can't find it anywhere and BMW wants around £400 for it. Anybody knows where I can buy it cheaper? And is there any other way to get the oil level sensor to work with those errors? Last time it happened about a year ago and a mechanic somehow managed to clear the errors out and everything worked fine, until now. I'm scared to drive it like this because I know there are a few small oil leaks.

What was the exact steering angle sensor error?

When the calibration is borderline it will throw the lights and just needs INPA to reset the centre position.

Do you mean the actual copper contacts on the sensor itself? I understand I can just spray it with contact cleaner? So the difficulty would be in removing it and putting back in. Unfortunately I'm a couple hours away from Lincoln.
