Steering angle reset (yellow brake and DSC lights)

Hello. Since yesterday a yellow DSC and hand brake light came on as I was driving. Before I bought the car in July I took it for an inspection to my mechanic and he scanned the computer and found that sometime in the past an error with the steering angle sensor and the abs sensor has occurred. He said that this could be due to a recent change of battery that the car had and a reset will be required for the steering angle sensor or that an actual problem exists that will cost me around 500euro to fix. I therefore got a discount on the price of the vehicle to compensate for the error. After I bought the car I got it to my mechanic for a service and he also reset the whole memory of the vehicle. Since then the yellow brake light and DSC light came on a couple of times (i think the previous time was during Xmas). Each time I reset the sensor by holding the DSC button until the DSC goes on and off when the engine is switched off and the key is at the position where you get all the instrument lights on. This seemed to solve the error for a few months each time. Since yesterday however it came on 3 times. I found this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iXQDSOZOt0 where you reset the steering angle sensor by turning the steering wheel at each side. I will try that later when I go for a ride. I also have new tyres and brake pads installed recently. Any thoughts ?

I forgot to mention that today the tyre pressure sensor came on (on its own without before the other lights came on today - they came yesterday thought) and it turned one of my tyres had 1.6 bars. I checked for damage or a hole but there seemed to be no issues. However, after I put the right presures on and reset the tyre pressure monitor the DSC - hand brake issue came back. Could they be related in some way?

Check your battery volt and connection, if its ok.

Next step check brake sensor and ASC/DSC module. Its normal for Z's.

The tyre pressure monitor uses the ABS system to identify low pressure, could be an ABS sensor issue. Sometimes one or both of the front sensors read the signal on the wheel poorly because of a build up of dirt around the sensors. It's worth a try cleaning this area out and checking the connectors. The rear sensors are much more protected from dirt, but may be worth checking the connectors.
