Hi all

Got 3 yellows the other day and I know the car has a history of steering angle code issues.

I read the codes and sure enough 5E 43 showing implausible angle

I used the 'solved' thread Zedebee popped up to use Toolset32 and INPA to reset- success but the code recurs quickly again (pic attached)

So- whats peoples guidance?

Do I need to reset the steering angle another way post works on the suspension?

Any ideas accepted!

Cheers

Stuart

Ah- followed this guide here to use inpa to interrogate and reset angle

https://youtu.be/8pCNaGayE0o

Steering angle was -500… so that would cause a few codes I guess

Reprogrammed the angle and no yellows come back yet: I’ll keep the thread posted

I love inpa

When I lose my notes in future and if anyone needs the steps on inpa

Select model
Chassis
Steering angle sensor
F5
F4
Note angles

F10 exit

Shift F5
F6 config
Wheel dead straight
F1
F3
F10 exit

Read angle again using 1st steps

Reset codes in main menu

Resurrecting my own thread-

Had to clear the lights 3 times now so its not fixing the issue

Anyone got any suggestions of what to check to resolve?

Steering angle sensor worth replacing?
Swap the column?

Cheers

Yeah still works

Going to have a play with the position sensor and the yaw sensors as I have spares

The other telltale issue I have- the DSC and ABS act up prior to the lights coming on (again)

So DSC fires up when slow acceleration is being applied and you can feel ABS kicking in when braking...

Something isnt right overall that the car is trying to over think/react to

Is 5E40 the only code? The fact it’s steering angle implausible and this is what the steering angle sensor measures suggests it is the sensor that is the issue. I did have it apart and it looked OK but that doesn’t mean it’s not faulty.

They seem to be quite readily available for not much money, but it may be a column-off job to fit.

I’ve got the breaker if I need to grab one

Going to get the tracking done first as I’ve a sneaking feeling that after doing the front end works (and the steering wheel is a bit off centre) that may eliminate a few things

fixed

first- get your TRACKING sorted as mine wasnt out, it was OUT OUT

Once thats done re run the Toolset32 program and use INPA to sort the codes

All fine now!!

Great result. I’m surprised you said it was driving so well if the tracking was OUT OUT. Hopefully it will be even better now
