Steam off bonnet-overheating

As others have said, it's perfectly normal. Have only noticed this a few times in my car when driving in rain and heavy traffic, I don't get stuck in traffic jams often.
 
Must have been some specific weather conditions that have caused the same effects with few people's cars today.

This exact thing happened to me in my Freelander the other day. I couldn't understand where it was coming from. Steam pouring out the bonnet around the near side, just above the headlight.
Dawned on me it was from splashed up water off the road.
(I do like a good road-splash :lol: )
 
I get this too also get lots if your washer fluid cap pops off (or I forgot to put it back) and that's sloshing about! :)

Although I want to give the car a wax and clean before photo time, the weather could not be any worse ! I thought I might be the only one out in a Zed in this weather but I saw a silver 2.2 soft top at the petrol station in manchester this morning :)

He looked about as happy with the weather as I did.

Are these cars ok in the wet, I'm avoiding any standing water as much as possible don't want to break anything. :|

I think it is because the bonnet is long and flat. I used to get this on my TVR too. On most modern cars the water will just run off due to the angle of the bonnet, but on the Z4 it pools.

Surely with a TVR it's more likely to be smoke though right... :poke: :)
 
Water doesn't pool on my bonnet - too much wax :D

Though I guess the creases on the ///M cause that effect, thinking about it :?

No smoke or steam came out of my Tvr seac , just lots of noise !
