I'm no market watcher Mr T. Just a normal car guy who happens to have an ///MR. Pretty and relatively rare though the E86 3ltr is. It is just another little niche product from Germany. It's not the ///M and that is the one the marketeers and engineers have been telling us car lover's we should buy for the past 30 odd years. Companies put their marketing money to work and we follow. Narrow sad old world really. Or maybe I'm just a bit tired and cynical this evening.Mr Tidy said:Even so, that seems cheap for a Ruby Black E86!
I suppose it's the fear that it will disintegrate in another 1,00 miles!

My ruby black E86 has 118K miles and other than a pixel issue with the dash, is doing fine. (£155 fix).
Not sure I like it being described as a ‘ just another little niche product’.
But accept that is a 12 year old BMW and given that,
has suffered palatable depreciation, over my two and half years ownership.
Yes the ///M models are fundamentally better cars.
Joe public doesn’t know that and an E86 or a lesser engined E85 is still a great place to be.
As to the advertised car: It still sold and had over 70 people watching it do so...![]()

I remember paying £32k for a 2012 model(M sport) back in 2014 and I thought that it was a lot of car for the money even then. They are cracking value now for sure and they offer a brilliant performance/economy mix. I put 70k miles on it in just under 3 years and it was a great car, it returned 40mpg as well which I thought was great for the performance.mr wilks said:Seems like a good thread to discuss the current state of affairs across the marques , it really is a eye opener when you start scanning the classifieds .
How about a later shape 6 series for the price of a same year 2.0 E89https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201907039685708?onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=New&price-from=11000&postcode=bb120hr&sort=price-asc&price-to=20000&radius=1500&advertising-location=at_cars&model=6%20SERIES&make=BMW&page=1
